How to make a Sugar Free (and junk free) Caramel Sauce

Even my nephews love this; and these kids would eat sweets all day long.  It tastes great and the best part = there is no refined sugar or any of the other pesky crap found in regular caramels stocked on supermarket shelves.  Pour it over ice cream, on top of your porridge, into your smoothie or eat it straight...it doesn't matter really as it's good, honest food. I got this recipe from www.keenongreens.com

Very Vegan Pesto

So here's the thing: This is amazing.

Don't buy pesto, make it yourself!  It takes 2 minutes, tastes better, has zero crap and it's really fresh, not out of a jar. Here's how I make it:

Carrot + Apple Juice

So this recipe is self explanatory! I am really craving this juice lately.  I think I need the warming effect of the ginger on these cold days. It's a very simple juice but it is packed to the rafters with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 and lots of nutrients. It's often hailed as a super anti-cancer juice as it is full of antioxidants (it's a staple juice in Gerson Therapy) which strengthen the immune system and help fight disease. It's also a super juice for your hair, skin and nails. So all round it's a great drink. But, a word of warning....the apples do have a high content of natural sugar and so any of you who suffer from candida (or any other nasty yeasty type infections) may need to limit these juices.

Raw Chocolate Smoothie!

This is probably my very favourite breakfast.

Sometimes I pour it into a big bowl, sometimes I spoon is into my kilner jar or sometimes I add more almond milk to make it more like a drink ...either way it gets devoured.

Ingredients + Instructions

  • 1/2 Ripe Avocado
  • 1/2 Frozen Banana
  • 1 Cup of Almond Milk (or Rice / Soya Milk etc)
  • Tbsp of Raw Cacao (not regular cocoa as this is full of refined sugar!)

  1. Blend this all up and add more almond milk if you like it to be more runny.
  2. Then add whatever you want really! Here's what I add:
  • Tsp Bee Pollen (makes it really sweet, you could also add honey)
  • Tbsp Chai Seeds
  • Tbsp Flaxseeds
  • Tbsp Hemp Protein Powder (as I don't eat meat)
  • Tbsp Maca Powder (great to balance hormones ladies)
  • Blueberries (fresh or fozen)
3. Blend theses in and top with fruit, I use dried mulberries as they are really chewy and sweet.

Drink it, eat it...savour it. It's delicious, very filling and of course....nourishing!
